Jimmy Bascom Wilborn Sr.
ROXBORO — Jimmy Bascom Wilborn Sr., age 65, of 737 Denny’s Store Road, Roxboro, NC, died Sunday morning June 2, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Wilborn was a native of Durham County, NC, son of the late James and Mary Dunn Regan and husband of 42 years to Susie Lappin Wilborn who survives. He was an investigator retired from the Person County Sheriffs Department, was a veteran of the US Army where he served in Vietnam and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Jimmy B. Wilborn Jr. and wife, Sherry, Jason Wilborn and wife, Cicely; daughter, Sandy W. Clayton and husband, Daniel; two sisters, Patricia Phelps and husband, Rainey, Shelia Tuck and husband, Roy, all of Roxboro, NC; six grandsons, Jeffrey Clayton, Tyler Clayton, J.T. Wilborn, Seth Wilborn, Holden Wilborn and Jack Wilborn.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilborn is preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Ann Whitfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tim Bowes. Interment will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, June 3, 2013 from 6:30 till 8 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be Rob Clayton, Aron Lappin, Bobby Lappin, Chris Lappin, Rick Lappin Jr. and Matthew Tuck. Members of the Person County Sheriffs Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
