Jerry Butler
DURHAM - Jerry Butler, age 44, passed on April 30, 2013 at Duke Medical Center.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, LaShonda Butler; father, Max Butler Sr.; mother, Patricia Butler; and children.
His services will take place at Mt. Vernon on Monday, May 6, 2013. The service will begin at 12 noon, and visitation will precede one hour prior to the service.
Services are entrusted to Scarborough and Hargett Funeral Home.


Moulton “Molt” Edward Jarrett
DURHAM - Mr. Moulton “Molt” Edward Jarrett, 81, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Duke Medical Center. He was born in Durham County to the late Charlie Hunter Jarrett and Tessie Williams Jarrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Jarrett; brothers, Charles M. Jarrett, Bobby N. Jarrett; and special friend, Lora Lee Powell. Mr. Jarrett retired from Overnite Trucking Co. as a driver. He enjoyed working on cars, enjoyed visiting friends, hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his love of people.
He is survived by his niece, Susan Jarrett Banks (John) of Greenville; nephew, Ken Jarrett of Durham; great-niece, Whitney Banks Bailey (Blake); great-nephew, Trey Banks all of Greenville; sister-in-law, Ann Jarrett of Durham; his extended family, Joyce Johnson and family, Barbara Franklin and family and Lisa Langley and son, Derek.
A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 at Maplewood Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 3610 Hillandale Road, Durham, NC 27705.

Saundra Crawford Johnson
DURHAM - Memorial service for Saundra Crawford Johnson will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 404 Dowd Street.
Survivors include daughters, Tiffany Johnson, Levita Johnson; son, Michael L. Johnson Jr.; nine grandchildren; parents, John and Gertrude Frison; sister, Dr. Cynthia Crawford Green; special friend, Ricky Reams.

Mildred Green O’Briant
DURHAM — Mrs. Mildred G. O’Briant, 88, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Durham Regional Hospital. She was born on March 12, 1925 in Durham County to the late James Douglas Green and Esther Stanley Green. Mrs. O’Briant was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. O’Briant; brother, James Douglas Green Jr.; sisters, Clarice Rhodes Kelly, Mary Alice O’Neal, and Ruth “Blue” Hutchins. She retired from the office of the Register of Deeds in 1975 and became a successful real estate broker, eventually establishing her own company, Mildred O’Briant Realty. Mrs. O’Briant was a current resident of Carolina House of Durham and a long time member of Braggtown Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Jan O’Briant Yardley (Gerald Lee Culler) and Karen O’Briant Rich (Joseph Rich); grandchildren, Laura Yardley Williford (Victor Lester Williford III), James Justin Yardley, James Chadwick Frazier and Catherine Blair Frazier; numerous nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 5 at Clements Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 4 at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. Friends may also visit at the home of her daughter Jan, 101 Bessemer Place, Durham, NC 27712.

Maurice F. Streeter
DURHAM — The Homegoing Service for Maurice F. Streeter is Monday, May 6, 2013 at Community Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church at 12:30 to 1 p.m. The service will commence at 1 p.m.
Maurice is survived by his mother, Ms. Gloria Streeter; and father, Mr. Willie Eades; and a host of other relatives and friends.

DURHAM — Memorial service for Wanda Ann Wakeland will be held today at 3 p.m. at Christ of the Good Shepherd, 3741 Garrett Road.

Shirley Posillipo
CHAPEL HILL — Shirley Posillipo died suddenly on May 2, 2013. She is survived by her children, Gina Ambrosecchia, Joseph Posillipo and Vera Mecca; grandchildren: Tiffany Posillipo, Dustin and Tony Ambrosecchia, Joseph Mecca, Mitchell Posillipo; and great-children; her brother, Louis Azzolino; and sister, Susan Schulz.

Timothy “Timmy” Ray
HILLSBOROUGH — Timothy “Timmy” Ray, 17, beloved son of Coley and Lori Ray, passed away May 1st, 2013 at his home in Hillsborough. Timmy is also survived by his siblings, Scott, Caroline, and Sarah. 
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Clements Funeral Chapel in Hillsborough at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Bobby Tate officiating. Burial will follow at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery in Hillsborough. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Hillsborough.

PERSON
James Edward Ramsey
ROXBORO — James Edward Ramsey, 81, of 170 Newell Dr., Roxboro, died Thursday, May 2, 2013. Born in Person County, Mr. Ramsey was the son of the late John Talmadge and Otey Wilkins Ramsey. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Ramsey served in the US Marines Corp stationed in Hawaii. He retired as Captain and was honorably discharged in 1960.
He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina Law School. He founded his law practice in 1958, and he practiced law until his death. He served in the North Carolina General Assembly and was Speaker of the House from 1973 until 1975.
He was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 2012.
Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by a grandchild, Erin Squires Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey is survived by his wife, Eunice Saunders Ramsey; four children, Frank Talmadge Ramsey, of Durham, Linda Hart Ramsey and David Clark Ramsey and wife, Julie, all of Roxboro, and Carl Wilkins Ramsey and wife, Jodie, of Puyallup, WA; one brother, Robert T. Ramsey, of Roxboro; seven grandchildren, Stacy Renee Ramsey, John Thomas Ramsey, Michael James Ramsey, Lisa Hart Sanders, Alexander Harris Ramsey, Adam Saunders Ramsey and Jordan Clark Ramsey.
Memorial services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Pam Watkins and Chief District Court Judge Mark E. Galloway. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-3 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Judicial District 9A Bar.
