Albert Christopher "Chris" Council
DURHAM - Mr. Albert Christopher "Chris" Council, age 49, passed on Friday, June 21, 2013 at UNC Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Minerva Bland Council; two children, Tre Shawn Council and Krishuna Council; four brothers, Charles Council, Walter Council, Wilbert (Jackie) Council, and Ervin (Natasha) Council; and one sister, Sherry Hubbard.
Services will take place on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Scarborough and Hargett Chapel at 1 p.m. A visitation will precede service at 12 noon.


Mary P. Jarmon
DURHAM - Mary P. Jarmon (96), formerly of 2917 Fitzgerald Drive in Durham, N.C., died Friday, June 21, 2013. The family will receive visitors at 709 Ilex Court in Wendell, N.C. where Mary resided for the past two years. 
Family Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the funeral services immediately following at 12 noon at West Durham Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Glennview Memorial Park in Durham.
Survivors include: brother, William Pretty of Raleigh; caregiver, Bevelyn P. Johnson of Wendell.

Arthur David Pomerantz
January 31, 1927 – June 23, 2013

DURHAM - Arthur Pomerantz, 86, peacefully passed away after a courageous battle with illness. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted partner, Joan Caccavelli; two daughters, Fran and Amy Pomerantz; and his former wife and dear friend, Sandy Pomerantz.  His warm heart and sharp wit engaged the affection of countless others that were fortunate enough to know him. 
Arthur had that rare persona that made you feel very special. With a wink and his kind smile, he would win your heart. 
His genuine kindness overshadowed his human frailties. He is dearly loved and deeply missed by so many that crossed his path.
Thank you, Arthur, for all the wonderful memories we will never let go of.

Willie Lee Boyd Grady

CREEDMOOR — Willie Lee Boyd Grady, 83, a longtime resident of Creedmoor, passed away Sunday, June 23nd, 2013 at Brantwood Nursing Home in Oxford.
A native of Granville County, the daughter of the late Lonnie J. and Mandy Fitts Boyd, she was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and retired as a quality inspector at Kayser Roth in Creedmoor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 26th 2013 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by Dr. Marc Tilley. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.
Surviving are a sister, Julia B. Womble of Creedmoor; three brothers, Alvin Boyd and Norman R. Boyd, both of Oxford, Roy L. Boyd of Pittsboro; four step children and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter M. Grady; and a son, Bobby R. Cifers.

Brenda Copeland Thompson
HILLSBOROUGH – Brenda Copeland Thompson, 65, died Sunday, June 23, 2013. She graduated from Orange High School and Croft Business College. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was a loving mom, grandmother, and sister.
Surviving are her daughter, Molinda Thompson, Hillsborough; her son, Shayne Thompson (Tracy), Hillsborough; her sister, Pam C. Murdaugh (Marshall), Mebane; two brothers, Steve Copeland (Karen), Hillsborough, and Stanley Copeland (Jackie), Burlington; and two grandchildren, Cameron and Jacob Thompson. She was predeceased by her parents, Ruby and Roy Copeland; and one sister, Kathryn C. Hester.
Visitation will be 12-1:30 p.m. Wednesday in New Sharon United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church by Pastor Jeff Nash. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Patrick Lloyd (Pat) Eudy
MOUNT PLEASANT, SC — Patrick Lloyd (Pat) Eudy, 44, of Mount Pleasant, SC died Thursday, June 20, 2013 in a plane crash.
Pat was born to the late Bobby Lloyd Eudy and Mary Ward Eudy on Oct 2, 1968 in Durham, NC. Pat graduated from Durham Academy in 1986 and attended Vanderbilt University before transferring to the University of North Carolina. He was Director of Business Development at Fairpoint Communications prior to founding his own company, American Broadband Communications in 2003, which operates telephone, cable television and broadband networks in rural markets throughout the U.S.
Pat was an avid sailor. He had sailed around the country and participated in numerous sailboat races. He enjoyed weekly sailing with friends in the Charleston Harbor. In addition to sailing, Pat also enjoyed flying. He was a licensed pilot who flew his planes for business and for pleasure.
Pat is survived by four children, Mary Alexander, 13, William Lloyd, 12, Katherine Elizabeth, 9, and John Patrick, 6. He is also survived by his former wife of 18 years, Jane Rountree Eudy; his mother, Mary Ward Eudy Berini; two brothers, Gary Bruce Eudy (Jenny) and Keith Ward Eudy (Bonnie); his in-laws, Jim and Sharon Rountree; and their son, Jim and his wife, Amy; uncle and aunt, Larry and Ginny Phipps, two nieces and three nephews. Pat was predeceased by his father, Bobby Lloyd Eudy; and his step-father, Joe F Berini.
A memorial service will be held at the Carolina Yacht Club in Charleston on Wednesday, June 26 at 4 p.m.


Robert Battle “R.B.” Johnson Jr.
YANCEYVILLE, NC – Robert Battle “R.B.” Johnson Jr., 73, of 1505 Boy Scout Camp Road, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Tuck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Charles ”Butch” Curtis, Bob Heider, Tommy Johnson and Curt Johnson, Earl Johnson, Wesley Strader and Adam Strader.
R.B. was born in Rowland, NC to the late Robert Battle Johnson Sr. and Virgie Holder Johnson. He retired from Golden Belt Manufacturing Company with 36 years service and was a member of Lawsonville Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, golf and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Brenda, David, and Kenneth Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Willis Johnson of the home; his children, Scotty Lee Johnson, Robert Anthony Johnson and Tracy Lynn Strader; grandchildren, Wesley, Adam, Lyndsey, Claire and Landon Strader; sisters, Mary Stephenson, Louise Tyler Turner (Chester), Nettie Cox, Betty Hall, Carol Heider (Bob), Linda West (Dean) and Pam Long; brothers, Billy Johnson (Rhonda), Tommy Johnson (Betty Jean), Earl Johnson (Patricia), Larry Johnson (Joyce) and Curt Johnson (Janie) and special companion, Marley.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice Care Center of Alamance/Caswell and caregivers, Linda West, Joyce Johnson and Pam Long.
