DURHAM — Funeral service for Gwendolyn Andrews Baber will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Josephs AME Chruch, family visitation from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. with final rites by the Epicureans at 12 non and Delta Sigma Meta Sorority at 12:30.

 

Clarence Ray “Pete” Hundley
DURHAM - Clarence Ray “Pete” Hundley, 66, of Durham, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Hock Family Pavilion.
Pete was born in Durham to Rose Hutchins Rhew and the late Ivan Hundley.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War.  He loved spending time with his family and friends and in his spare time loved to golf, fish and watch NASCAR and old movies.   He had a special place in his heart for all animals, especially the many pet dogs he cared for and loved during his life.
Pete is predeceased by his wife, Charlene Nagy Hundley and his father.  
Along with his mother, Pete is survived by his daughter, Judith Hundley Urbania of Charlotte; his three grandchildren Mitchell Stone Urbania, Andrew Suroiu Urbania, and Jessica Rose Urbania also of Charlotte; his brother Carl Wallace Hundley and wife, Marcy Hundley of Las Cruces, New Mexico; his nieces, Catherine Alane Hundley of Fort Collins, Colorado and Laura Elizabeth Hundley of Denver, Colorado; and his step son, Charles Robert Cross of Durham. 
A special thanks to his cousin Linda and husband Carl Hicks for their loving care during the past weeks.  
A visitation and memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 16 at Grove Park Chapel in Durham.   The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dale Brooks officiating.

Edward Nelson
DURHAM - Edward Nelson, 56, departed his life on January 10, 2013.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Florence Morehead-Nelson; son, Christopher; and daughter, Cathy; six siblings, seven step-children and host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, New Shiloh Holiness Church, at 1 p.m., and visitation at 12 noon.

Eric C. Scott
DURHAM — Eric C. Scott, 53, a longtime resident of Durham, died Saturday evening at Hospice of the Meadowland in Hillsborough following a brief illness.  Eric was born in Durham to the late Betty Williams Meyer and Melvin Clyde Scott.  Since 1981, he was a member of the Durham Co. Sheriff’s Office, attaining the rank of Captain. He was one of the founding members of the Underwater Search and Recovery Team and taught Basic Law Enforcement Training. Eric was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and the Ridgecrest Outdoor Ministry. He was an outdoorsman and he loved photography and animals.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Scott of Durham; a daughter, Kara Scott of Durham; a son, Brad Scott and wife, Carrie of Durham; a sister, Sandra Jennings of Emerald Isle; and a brother, Greg Scott and wife, Diane of Kernersville.
A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ridgecrest Baptist Church by Rev. Marc Francis. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Care Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615; or to the Ridgecrest Outdoor Ministry, 1104 Milton Road, Durham NC 27712.

Wayne Morris Wise
DURHAM — Wayne Morris Wise, 59, of Durham departed his life on January 5, 2013.
He is survived by his mother, Gussie Mae Paylor Wise; daughters, Melissa Wise Sloan and Elizabeth Pope Corvette Robinson; brother, John Wise; and a host of family and friends.
Services will be at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home, Wednesday at 1 p.m. and visitation at noon.

William “Bill Edward Marks
CHAPEL HILL — William “Bill Edward Marks, 85, of Chapel Hill died on Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was the son of the late Clemmons Marks and Belle Sherron Marks. He served in the U.S. Army, Merchant Marine, and Air Force. Mr. Marks retired from Liggett- Myers as a fixer. He loved driving his tractor and gator, had a deep love of the land and was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Marks, Bob Marks and Clemmons Marks, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Miller Marks of the home; two sons, George Edward Marks and Pamela Sharpe Marks of Atlanta, GA;  and  Carl Wayne Marks of Cedar Grove; one brother, Gordon Marks of Atlantic Beach, NC; four grandchildren, Cynthia and Joseph Eric Macalino of Raleigh; George Edward Marks Jr. of Marietta, GA; Adam Monroe Marks of Kennesaw, GA;  Catherine and Chris  Johnson of Mebane, NC;  three great-grandchildren, Ericka Macalino, Jeremiah Macalino and Gael  Macalino. 
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at North Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Rev Shelbie  Summerlin will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Chapel Hill. Pallbearers will be Eric Macalino, Dennis Pechinski, George Edward Marks, Jr., Jeremiah Macalino, Adam Monroe Marks and Chris Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral  Home.
