Ellie H. Fears
DURHAM — Ellie H. Fears, of Durham, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at Hock Family Pavilion. Born in Virginia, Mrs. Fears was the daughter of the late Edward Holder and Olenia Hamlett Holder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Fears, and eleven siblings. Mrs. Fears was retired from Durham County School’s Food Service Department.
Mrs. Fears is survived by a daughter, Judy Kimrey, of San Antonio, TX; a son, Greg Fears, of Maineville, OH; four grandchildren, James Otis Kimrey III, Christopher Scott Kimrey, Jessica Morgan Fears and Tara Michelle Fears; and two great-grandchildren, Gregory Otis Kimrey and Isaac Aidan Lawrence-Kimrey.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Durham, with Rev. Mark Stephens officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Clements Funeral Home, Durham.

Mary Louise Evans Gunn
DURHAM — Mary Louise Evans Gunn, 87, passed away peacefully at Duke Regional Medical Center on Thursday, April 24, 2014. She was born in Pittsboro, NC on April 11, 1927 and moved to Durham, NC at a very early age. A member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, she served as Deaconess Emeritus, a member of the Health Ministry and a member of the Half-Century Club which recognizes persons who have been members of the church for 50 years. She worked as a nurse, a profession she loved, at Duke Medical Center, UNC-CH Memorial Hospital and private duty nursing for 35 years while rearing six children. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mom, grandma aka “MeeMa” and “G-ma” and great-grandma aka “G-G Ma.”
In 1977 she was the proud recipient of the Durham Chamber of Commerce Mother of the Year Award.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Thena Evans Noell, and her husband of 55 years, and the love of her life, William S. Gunn. Mrs. Gunn is survived by three daughters, Linda Gunn-Jones (Anthony) of Raleigh, Monika Gunn-Holloway and Fern Gunn Simeon (Mark) of Durham; three sons, Wm. Lloyd Gunn, Marcilen L. Gunn (Linda), and Milton P. Gunn, of Durham; four grandchildren, Christopher Gunn Holloway (Shanti) and Allison Gunn Simeon of Durham, Marcilen Lloyd Gunn of Charlotte, and Marilouise E. Jones (W. Lafayette, IN); five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, 1 pm, at the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 2200 South Alston Avenue, Durham. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 12:00 noon - 1:00 pm. Interment will be held in Beechwood Cemetery, Durham.

Clifton J. Street
DURHAM — Clifton J. Street passed away on the morning of Thursday, April 24, 2014. He was 99 years old. He had been in declining health, and had recently suffered a fall. Born in Sanford, NC on September 5, 1914, “Cliff” was one of nine children of Carrie Thornton Reaves Street and Lonnie P. Street, Sr.
He was educated in the Lee County (NC) School system, Palmer Memorial Institute in Sedalia, NC, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in June of 1946from North Carolina College for Negroes (now North Carolina Central University). He also served in the U.S. Army at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky as a Staff Sergeant.
He was a Special Delivery Postman for the U. S. Postal Service from 1950 until retirement in 1980.He is survived by his wife, Virginia Headen Street; children Betty Street Gilmore (George), Robert Clifton Reginald Street (Stella), and Bradley Headen Street (Judith); and granddaughter Barbi Street Elmore (Scott).
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April, 30, at Northside Baptist Church on 1239 Berkeley Street in Durham. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am, with the service at 12:30 pm. Arrangements are being managed by Holloway Memorial Funeral Home.
Janice Lynette Woodside
DURHAM — Janice Lynette Woodside, born May 16, 1972 to the late Roselena and the late Junior Woodside. She passed at Duke hospital on Wednesday April 23, 2014. She leaves behind a loving and tender daughter, Jasmin, her beloved siblings, nieces, nephews, family, friends, co-workers, and students. Janice graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans in 2004, and a Master’s degree from Tulane University in 2007. She was a board certified teacher who held a license to teach elementary education for the state of Louisiana and the state of North Carolina. Memorial service will be held at Scarborough & Hargett Funeral Home, 923 Suite B Old Fayetteville Street, Durham, North Carolina 27701 on April 30, 2014 at 5:00pm.
Faye O’Neal Bizzell
KNIGHTDALE — Faye O’Neal Bizzell passed away peacefully Friday, April 25, 2014 at Wake Med after a courageous battle with cancer. She fought this battle to the very end and won a beautiful, healthy life for eternity. Faye was born in Wake County on May 30, 1943 to the late Joseph Woodrow O’Neal, Sr. and Mary Terry O’Neal. She graduated from Knightdale High School in 1962. On October 11, 1989 she married the love of her life Robert Ray Bizzell, Jr., better known as “Bob”. She was his secretary and co-owner at Bob’s Radiator and Muffler Shop in Durham. As long as her health permitted, she was a faithful member at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Faye was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and friend to many.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 28, 2014 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Sunday, April 27, 2014 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home, 5512 Meadow Run, Knightdale.
Faye is survived by her husband: Bob; son: Michael Darin Smith (Virginia) of Wake Forest; daughter: Kimberly Faye Smith Hayworth (Steve) of Knightdale; grandchildren: Victor, Dylan, Ashlyn, Will, Krystal, Jessica and David; sisters: Shirley Narron (Jimmy) of Hampton GA, Sue Boyd of Knightdale, Lynda Williams (John) of Prince Frederick, MD; sisters-in-law: Peggy O’Neal of Hendersonville and Phyllis O’Neal of Middlesex.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her brothers: Joseph Woodrow “JW” O’Neal, Jr. and Jimmy Ray O’Neal.
