Doris Cates Carden
DURHAM - Mrs. Doris Cates Carden, 81, of Durham, died on Saturday, March 30, 2013.
Mrs. Carden was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Jesse Cates and Mamie Watson Cates. She was a homemaker and loved gardening and flowers. She was a member of Cheek Heights Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Arlis Walter Carden; daughter, Judy Raynor; and special friends, Patsy Parrish, Hilda Stegall, Van Cote, Betty Ringwood and Mr. and Mrs. John Shertzer and family.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Rev. Steve Williams will officiate. There is no visitation planned.

Reverend Zebedee "ZD" Harris
DURHAM - Reverend Zebedee "ZD" Harris, 89, of 910 Cox St., died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his residence. His service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at Oak Grove FWB Church, 801 Colfax St.
Interment will follow in Markham Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2 at Oak Grove Church.

Reverend Harris is survived by his wife, Lucy B. Harris; daughter, Theresa Hodges; and stepson, John L. Battle.

Ozzie Myrtle Rogers
DURHAM - Ms. Ozzie Myrtle Rogers, 70, of Durham, NC, transitioned from her earthly home on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at DUMC.
Ozzie was employed with Durham Public Schools for over 40 years. She retired her position in 2006. She completed her education at Merrick Moore High School.
She is survived by her only child, the love of her life, Nichole Rogers-Warren (Reginald); and four grandchildren, Shaun, Reggie Jr., Nicholas and Kamryn. She also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Sienna and Edin; two sisters, Anne Mae Murphy, and Marie Johnson; and one brother, Rodney Rogers (Bonita).
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 with visitation at 12, services at 1 p.m. at Union Baptist Church.
Interment following at Beechwood Cemetery.

Joseph Lloyd Taylor
DURHAM - Funeral service for Joseph Lloyd Taylor will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at West Durham Baptist Church. Family visitation will be one hour before the service.
Survivors include: daughters, Angel, Sheri, Arlene, April, Fonshaunna (Anthony); sons, Joe Jr., Tony, Tyrone, Damian; father, John F. Gunn; sisters, Joyce Riley, Caloria Swann, Nadine Bishop, Jane Brown, Johnetta Gunn, Marilyn Couch; sister-in-law, Melanie Swann.
Public viewing: Monday 1 to 7 at Fisher Funeral Parlor.
Toneye Curtis Taylor
DURHAM — Memorial service for Toneye Curtis Taylor will be held Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Palmer Memorial Holy Church, Fairview Street.
Family visitation will be held from 6:30-7 p.m.
Survivors include: sons, James C. Davis, Tirek Curtis; companion, Richard Lipscomb; mother, Mary Curtis; father, James Good; sisters, Robin Gooden, Henrietta Royster; three grandchildren.

Joseph Lee Timmons
DURHAM — Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Lee Timmons (80) of Durham, NC, will be conducted on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Bethel Tabernacle United Holy Church. The family will meet with their friends one hour before the funeral service.
Survivors are one daughter, Ms. Dasiyer Ray Timmons; three sons, Mr. Tony Ray Timmons, Mr. Jovares Timmons, Mr. Josiah Timmons; seven brothers, Mr. Rayshein, Mr. Andrew, Mr. John, Mr. Jerald, Mr. Winford, Mr. Niheam, Mr. Cory Timmons, and a host of other relative and friends.

Betsy Griffin Watson
DURHAM — Mrs. Betsy Griffin Watson, 80, of Durham, died on Saturday, March 30, 2013.
Mrs. Watson was a native of Durham and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Berry S. Griffin and Lillian King Griffin. She retired from Laurence G. Wilson, CPA. She was a member of Roberson Grove Baptist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class 2 and the Ladies Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood “Blue” Watson.
She is survived by two sons, Joe Watson (Sherri), Doug Watson (Cynthia); daughter, Susan Watson; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jack O’Neal will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter.
