Rebecca Louise Bowen
DURHAM — Mrs. Rebecca Louise Bowen, 49, of 5712 Couch Mountain Road, died on Monday, July 14, 2014.
Mrs. Bowen was a native and lifelong resident of Durham. She was a receptionist for McFarland Septic Service and a former employee of Monumental Life Insurance Company. She was preceded in death by her father, James Nathaniel Green, and a sister, Roxanne Carpenter.
She is survived by her mother, Lois Rogers of Roanoke Rapids; her daughter, Heather Bowen of Durham; brother, Michael Selle of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Kaye Moody of Roanoke Rapids; and extended family, The DeLamoras of Roanoke Rapids.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., before the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at

Brandon James Edwards
DURHAM — Brandon James Edwards, 33, departed his life on July 16, 2014.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful wife Shanetta Faust Edwards, daughter Amaranth, 8, son Brantley, 3, mother Cordelia, father Brian, brother BJ and sister Kelly.
Viewing will be held at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8pm.
Funeral service will be held at Monument of Faith Church on July 19 at 12 noon.

William A. Hart
DURHAM — William A. Hart, 83, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his home. He was born in Granville County to the late Jewel John Hart and the late Carrie White Hart.
Mr. Hart is survived by his wife, Barbara Hart; daughter, Stephanie Edwards; granddaughters, Danielle and Michelle Edwards; great-grandson, Dillon McIntyre; sister, Judy Blackwell (Nelson); and sister-in-law, Suzanne Hart.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Daniel Tilley officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 to 2 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.

Beart Truitt
DURHAM — Mrs. Beart Truitt, Community Activist, was welcomed to Glory on July 10th, 2014 at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her cherished oldest son and leaves to treasure 5 children, 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors, friends and extended family at Union Baptist Church, 904 N. Roxboro Street, Durham, NC 27701 on Friday, July 18th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Mrs. Truitt's Homecoming Celebration will convene at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 19th at Union Baptist Church. Burial will be held in Hawkins Cemetery, Franklinton, NC.

Rose Martin Wright
April 1, 1936 – July 14, 2014
DURHAM — Rose Martin Wright peacefully passed away on July 14, 2014 at the age of 78 in Durham, North Carolina after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. Rose was born in Opelousas, Louisiana to Octavia Martin Williams (Abraham Williams) and Arthur Martin. She resided in Durham for 40 years and was a proud graduate of North Carolina Central University. Rose enjoyed 21 years of employment at Wells Fargo Bank, retiring as a Personal Banker.
A woman of prayer, Rose was one of the founding members of The Ignatian Companions of North Carolina. Recognizing the significance of spiritual direction and wanting to learn more about how to help people with their prayer, Rose recently completed a 2-year program to become a certified Spiritual Director.
At Holy Cross, Rose directed individuals in the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola, provided spiritual direction, and because she herself was a prayerful person supported many people in times of crisis, pain, or struggle.
Rose also shared her faith. She was one of the first to guide and instruct in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. For many years she served as the Director of the process and in doing so, touched the lives of countless new Catholics and their families. Rose was also a Master Catechist and completed the Raleigh Diocesan Lay Leadership program.
Rose was the beloved wife of Frank for 56 years and the incredibly adoring mother of Laurette, Carla, Terence (Diane) and Jennifer (Frank). She was blessed and loved by her 3 grandchildren, Cameron Jukes, Sterling Jukes and Fredrick Wright Boone. Rose is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Martin Goodman (Peter) and Mary Jane Jones (Lawrence).
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to celebrate Rose’s homecoming immediately following at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2438 S. Alston Avenue, Durham. Services will be led by The Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Ph.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio.

Susan Anne Williams Estess
HILLSBOROUGH — Mrs. Susan Anne Williams Estess, 64, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mozelle Williams. She graduated from Orange High School in the Class of 1967.
Surviving are her husband, Willis Nelson Estess, Jr., three aunts, Louise W. Garrard, Ruth W. Willett, and Grace W. Simmons, and cousins.
The service will be held 3 PM, Sunday, in Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel following visitation 1:30-2:45 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lineberger Cancer Center, 450 West Dr., Chapel Hill, NC 27599.
