Josephine “Ann” Long McCoy Alston
DURHAM — Mrs. Josephine “Ann” Long McCoy Alston was born on March 31, 1943 in Durham, North Carolina and departed this life on July 14, 2014 at Peak Treyburn Rehabilitation Facility, Durham, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin Long and Emma Woods Long. Mrs. Alston was known by her middle name, Ann. Very few people knew her as Josephine.
Mrs. Alston received her formal education in the former Durham City School System, now Durham Public Schools. She attended Hillside High School and was a member of the class of 1961. She also studied at Durham Technical Institute, now Durham Technical Community College.
She was employed with the former Durham City Schools, now Durham Public Schools, as a Teacher Assistant at Brogden Middle School. In her later years, until her retirement, she was an employee of Royal Home Fashions in both Durham and Burlington, North Carolina.
Her only son, Philbert Quincey McCoy, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her loss her husband, Harold Alston of the home; a very devoted daughter, Gwendolyn M. Coley, and son-in-law, Herman Coley; two sisters, Lucretia Long Mims (Billy), Durham, North Carolina, and Reverend Deborah Long Burroughs, San Francisco, California; grandchildren, Isaac and Jeaneen McQueen, Durham, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren; cousins and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 1:00 P. M. at Kyles Temple AME Zion Church. The church is located at 409 Dunstan Street, Durham, North Carolina. Visitation will be one-half hour prior to the funeral.

Theresa Johnson Jeffries
DURHAM — Mrs. Theresa Johnson Jeffries, "T," formerly of Durham, entered into eternal rest on July, 14, 2014 at her home in Springdale, MD. Her service will be conducted at 1pm on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at White Rock Baptist Church, 3400 Fayetteville St. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 12-1pm one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Jeffries is survived by her two daughters, Phyllis J. Holliday and Valerie J. Fortune, and one brother, Burke Johnson.

Marjorie Stohlman Leimbach
DURHAM — Marjorie Stohlman Leimbach of Durham passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 while at the Hock Family Pavillion. She was born in Cleveland, OH to the late Mr. & Mrs. Gordon C. Stohlman. She attended Cleveland Institute of Art and was an accomplished artist. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was active in the Altar Guild and Katherine Circle. She was a longtime member of Umstead Pines Golf Club where she enjoyed golf, tennis and the Women of Willowhaven (Garden Club). She loved being with her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening, especially raising orchids in her greenhouse. She was a Red Cross Bloodmobile volunteer for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charles Leimbach, after 56 years of marriage.
She is survived by her daughter Lori Leimbach Eberhardt and husband Bob of Mebane, N.C.,  her son Jim Leimbach and wife Linda, grandchildren Sydney and Emily Leimbach of Atlanta, GA, sister Carolyn Jacobson of Fairview Park, OH, sister-in-law Marguerite Bichsel of Dunedin, FL, nieces Linda Khan and Marcia Rice, and nephews Jack Bichsel and David Bichsel.
The Memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. After the service the family invites everyone to a reception  at the church.

Doris A. Poole
DURHAM — Doris A. Poole, age 78, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Wake Assisted Living in Raleigh. Mrs. Poole was born in Madison, daughter of Sudie Robertson Oldham and the late John Dewey Manuel. She was a resident of Granville County and retired from Murdoch Center.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Rhoden of Durham; a son, David Stephens (Melanie) of Creedmoor; a grandson, Clint Roberts of Wilmington; and a granddaughter, Gwen Hardee (Larry) of Creedmoor. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Poole, and a sister, Marion Bland.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, July 19th at 11:00am at Mary's Chapel Baptist Church in Wake Forest by Rev. Alvin Thomas. Visitation will be held following the service in the Fellowship Hall at the church.

Valence L. Williams
DURHAM — Funeral service for Mrs. Valence L. Williams (62) of Durham, N.C. will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 pm from United for Christ Church and the interment will follow in the Glennview Memorial Gardens. The family will meet with their friends 1 hr. before the funeral service. Survivors are her husband, Mr. Richard O. Williams; 1 son, Mr. Winston A. Williams (Marcia); 3 daughters, Mrs. Ruth A. Whichard (Rufus), Mrs. Yvonne M. Williams-Walton, Mrs. Michelle Savage; 2 brothers, Mr. Albert J. Sandusky Jr. (Connie), Mr. Tyrone G. Sandusky; 1 sister, Ms. Shirley M. Sandusky; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of their relatives and friends.

Bishop Bedie Agnes Mack
HILLSBOROUGH — Bishop Bedie Agnes Mack, 86, born July 7, 1928 to the late Brodie Cates and Bedie Roundtree Cates, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014.
The Funeral will be conducted 2:00 PM, Friday, in Deliverance Tabernacle Cathedral with family visitation one hour before the funeral and burial in the church cemetery.
Surviving are sons, Kirby Mack (Verlinda) and Waymon David Mack; daughters, Evelyn Eubanks (Nathaniel) and Moyle W. Lee; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gracie Whitted, Elder Ruby Gattis and Bishop Georgia Ruth Riley; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Judith Patterson Gibbs
QUINBY, Va. — Judith Patterson Gibbs, 73, wife of the late Cecil H. Gibbs and a resident of Quinby, VA, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Ypsilanti, MI, she was the daughter of the late Archie Patterson and the late Mildred Boice Patterson Henderson. She was a retired bookkeeper for GTE and a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three children, Tracey Colyer and her husband, Reid Barkley of Carol Stream, IL, Shaan Colyer of Stow, OH, Rodney Adler and his wife, Ana Crawford, of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren, Jessica Colyer, Shaan Aaron Colyer, CorrinaColyer, Liam Colyer, Jaxson Colyer.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Donna Doan officiating. Interment will follow in Quinby Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
