Alan William Clever

DURHAM — Mr. Alan William Clever, 72, died Sunday at his home. Mr. Clever was born in Trenton, PA, the son of the late William Robert Clever and the late Marie Theresa Rakowski Clever. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Bell South Telephone. Mr. Clever was a member of Gorman Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a plank owner of the USS Kitty Hawk. Mr. Clever was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Hardin Clever and a son, Stephen Wayne Clever.
Mr. Clever is survived by a son, Tim Clever (Heather); a daughter, Jeanna List (Dr. Ellis List); three grandchildren, Eliza Jean List, Isabella Clever and Noah Clever; a sister, Diane Schwelle (Christ); and two nieces, Karen Schwelle and Kim Schwelle.
Funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Gorman Baptist Church with Dr. C. J. Bordeaux and the Rev. Larry Lamberth officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.

Martha Jones Easterling
DURHAM — Funeral services for Martha Jones Easterling will be held Thursday, July 17 at 12 Noon at White Rock Baptist Church, 3400 Fayetteville St., Durham.  The family visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
 

Dorothy “Dot” Marbrey
DURHAM — Dorothy “Dot” Marbrey, 90, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Duke University Hospital. Ms. Marbrey was born in Hoke County, the daughter of the late William Thomas Dixon and the late Eula Lucy Land Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Wynne of Louisburg. She retired from Duke University after 30 years of service and later she worked 16 years with Strawbridge Studios. She was a member of Plainview Baptist Church. She was an avid Duke Basketball fan.
Ms. Marbrey is survived by her son, Mike and wife Carla, of Garner; son Tim and wife Laurie, daughters, Karen Ray, Debbie Marbrey, all of Durham; brother, Thomas Dixon of Norfolk, VA., 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Doug Nalley officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.

Lucinda “Cindy” Collins Marks
DURHAM — Mrs. Lucinda “Cindy” Collins Marks, 38, a resident of Oxford, died unexpectedly Saturday at her home. Mrs. Marks was born in Durham. She was a Laboratory Technician.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham by Pastor Eddie Mauldin.
Surviving is her husband, Brian Marks; a son, Paul Marks; her parents John T. and Catherine Alice Collins; a sister, Rosa Dunn and husband Dan; three brothers, the late John T. Collins Jr., Greg Collins and wife, Vicky and Gerald Collins; three nephews Johnny, Daniel and Joshua; three nieces Summer, Brandi and Madi.

Renee Joyce Cohen Price
DURHAM — Mrs. Renee Joyce Cohen Price, age 67, a resident of Chapel Hill died early Monday at UNC Hospitals
 Born November 21, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, Renee was the daughter of the late Irving and Ruth Herman Cohen.  She attended Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, Illinois where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education in June of 1968.  She was director and teacher at Temple Anshe Shalom Pre-School for 23 years.  After moving to Chapel Hill in 1998, she  was employed with the Pre- School Division of the Lerner Day School for 10 years.  Renee was a member of Judea Reform Congregation.
She was the beloved wife of Paul P. Price for the past 42 years, loving mother to Adam and Heather Price, devoted Savta (grandmother) to Reena and Chananiah Price, special sister to Dr. Mike Cohen and (sister-in-law) Gail Henderson, caring aunt to Jessie Viders, Jared Viders and Michael Henderson Cohen, great aunt to Chana, Leiba, Miriam and Mordechai Viders, “Found” Cousin to Judy and Joyce, and long- time unconditional friend to  many, including very special nurse, Sherri Swan- Nesbitt.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in Judea Reform Congregation Cemetery, Rabbi John Friedman officiating.

Robert Lee Wilkins
DURHAM — Mr. Robert Lee Wilkins, Sr., 84, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home. He was born in Durham to the late Lonnie Hampton Wilkins and the late Bessie Clayton Wilkins Cagle. He was a lifelong resident of Durham and attended New Light Baptist Church. Mr. Wilkins loved blue grass music and played the guitar and Dobro guitar. Mr. Wilkins was employed with Erwin Mills retiring from Burlington Industries. His favorite occupation was owner of Able Lawn Care. He was always accompanied by his dog, Ginger.
Mr. Wilkins was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Carden Wilkins; and is survived by his sons, Robert Lee Wilkins, Jr. (Debra) of Durham, Roland Earl Wilkins (Beverley) of Durham; brother, Herman A. Wilkins of Durham; grandchildren, Shannon Bedingfield, Michelle Beckham, Roland Earl Wilkins, Jr. and 4 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens with Pastor Randy Umberger officiating. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.
