Mary H. Holland
DURHAM — Mrs. Mary H. Holland, 76, of 216 Northwood Circle, died Sunday, December 22, 2013, at her residence. Her service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, at Burthey Funeral Chapel, 1510 Fayetteville St. The family will receive friends on Saturday at Burthey Chapel from 2-3 p.m. one hour prior to the service.
Mrs Holland is survived by her children, Shannon, Yolanda, Terry and Robert; and brothers, Ocie, Wilbert and Alton.

Lorraine Johnson
DURHAM — Mrs. Lorraine Johnson, 82, passed away on December 21, 2013, at the Carver Living Center of Durham, NC. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Sandra Mann; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, 531 S. Roxboro St., Durham, NC 27701. A visitation with family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service.
Services are entrusted to Scarborough and Hargett Memorial Chapel and Gardens.

Betty Ruth Leak
DURHAM — Betty Ruth Leak, the daughter of the late Doris Elizabeth Gatling and Johnnie Maryland Tyler, was born in Musfreeboro, NC, on January 11, 1950. God called her from labor to reward on the evening of December 19, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She resided in Cary, North Carolina, for many years.
She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her loss, her husband, Keith Leak, whom she married on May 26, 1984; two sons, Lloyd Hunt of Raleigh, Melvin Hunt, of Garner; daughter, NaKeisha Leak, of Durham, NC; one daughter-in-law, Kim Hunt; two brothers and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 12 noon and will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Scarborough and Hargett Chapel.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
Services are entrusted to Scarborough and Hargett Memorial Chapel and Gardens.

Alice P. Smith
DURHAM — Mrs. Alice P. Smith departed this life on December 20, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Jerome Smith; three daughters, LaShawn Pennington, Tamika Tuitt, Nakecia Smith, and one son, Marquan Smith; one sister, one brother, seven grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be today at Orange Grove Missionary Baptist Church on East End Ave at 2 p.m. with visitation at 1 p.m.
