Minnie O’Briant Chandler
DURHAM — Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one cometh unto the Father but by me.”
Minnie O’Briant Chandler, 99, of Pittsboro Christian Village went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 27, 2014. She was born in Granville County on September 7, 1914, the daughter of the late William and Rosa Lee Bullock O’Briant.
After high school, Minnie came to Durham and graduated from the Watts School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Later, she worked as a nurse at Watts Hospital.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Russell Chandler. She is survived by one brother, John Mitchell O’Brian of Norfolk, Va.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Pittsboro Christian Village Chapel, 1825 East Street, Pittsboro, NC. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Minnie attended the Durham Gospel Center for decades, serving in various capacities. She loved the Lord and was a faithful witness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the benevolent fund of Pittsboro Christian Village, 1825 East St., Pittsboro, NC 27312.

William Roger Davidson
DURHAM — Mr. William Roger Davidson, 72, died Wednesday at Rex Hospital. Mr. Davidson was born in Tazewell Co., Virginia, the son of the late John Clarence Davidson and the late Wilma Leah Cline Davidson. He served several tours in Vietnam and retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of dedicated service. Mr. Davidson was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Davidson.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Janpen Davidson; daughter, Cristina Porter; sons, Pornchai Davidson and Dave Davidson; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Gathering Room at Clements Funeral Service in Durham with military honors.

Carl William Durham Sr.
DURHAM — Carl William Durham Sr., 76, departed this life peacefully on January 25, 2014 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Carl W. Durham Jr. and Anita Smith, both of Kokomo, Indiana; two sisters; six brothers and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be Monday, February 3, 2014 at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home at 4:00 pm with visitation at 3:30 pm.

James Earl Laney
DURHAM — James Earl “Tooloo” Laney was born on April 11, 1948 and passed on January 27, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Irma Laney of the home, four children, a sister, five brothers and host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at West Durham Baptist Church, 1901 Athens St., on Monday, February 3, 2014. Funeral will be at noon with visitation at 11:30 a.m.

Yusuf Scott Neville
DURHAM — Mr. Yusuf Scott Neville, 28, the son of Anita Scott Neville and Jerry Fuller Neville, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in Greensboro, NC. His service will be held at 1pm on Monday, February 3, at First Calvary Baptist Church, 1311 Morehead Avenue. Interment will follow in Glennview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 2, from 3-5pm at Community Baptist Church, 4812 Barbee Road.

Charles Leroy Alexander

HILLSBOROUGH — Mr. Charles Leroy Alexander, 72, died Thursday, January 30, 2014. He was a native of Union County and was a graduate of Belmont High School. He worked in the trucking industry for 35 years, as terminal manager and later worked for the Orange County ABC Board until retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Jones Alexander; his daughter, Barbara McCall Capps (Jimmy), Chapel Hill; two grandchildren, Brittainee Capps Edmond (Jason), Apex and Bryce McCall Capps, Wilmington; one great-grandson, Eastyn Edmond; and one sister, Martha Eubanks, Belmont. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Alexander.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Monday in Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bruce Brown. Visitation will be 1-2:15 PM Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.
