Thomas J. Boatright
DURHAM — Mr. Thomas J. “Tommy” Boatright, 89, of Durham, died on Thursday, May 29, 2014.
Born July 8, 1924 in Screven, Georgia to Lena Davis and Thomas W. Boatright. Preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mevis McQuaig and Doris Harris, and brother, Daniel K. Boatright. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Boatright for 66 years.
Married Martha Percy June 15, 1946. They have three children, Sandra Davis (Bill) of Mocksville, Daniel J. Boatright (Pam) of Cartersville, Ill., and Janet Wheeler (Russell) of Efland. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Quinelle B. Pittman of Waycross, Ga. and Winnie B. Gillespie of Blackshear, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews as well as many of his in-law family who loved him very much.
Tommy was a Mason, Shriner, and a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and Bethesda Ruritan Club. He worked several years for Colonial Stores and for 32 years at the American Tobacco Company in construction maintenance. He served his country for 33 months during World War II. His medals earned are the Purple Heart, Bronze star, Good Conduct medal, Combat Infantry Medal, unit citation award, and 3 battle stars.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church. Rev. Earl Echols and Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Active pallbearers will be the members of the Amran Shrine Temple. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Bethesda Ruritan Club.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 6012 Deerwood Lane. DURHAM — Montez Hambric, 26, departed his life on May 25, 2014. He leaves behind his mother Monica Watson and father Mark Hambric Sr. and devoted stepfather Terrell Watson Sr.; fiancée Laquisha; stepson Keshawn; seven brothers: Mark, Marcus, Terrell, Jason, Jayven, Jayomee, Rashawn; two sisters: Xana, Q'deshia; three uncles: Avery, Anton, Walter; one aunt: Nisha; four nephews: Marcus, Markese, Montrell, Shawn II; one niece: Makayla; three grandmothers: Elizabeth, Helen, Shirley; one grandfather: Charles; other relatives and friends. One deceased grandfather: Walter. Funeral Services will be in Louisville, Kentucky. A viewing will be held at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 1pm-7pm.
Raegen Leigh Lynch-Brown
DURHAM — Raegen Leigh Lynch-Brown was born on September 15, 2013 and entered into the arms of God on May 27, 2014. Heaven's gain was our loss when our angel was called by our God. Her service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Orange Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 505 East End Avenue. Interment will follow in Markham Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 12-1pm at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her mother, Rachel D. Lynch-Brown; grandparents, Ruth Amanda Lynch Brown (Dell Moody), Charles Brown, II (Tammera); great-grandmothers, Roxanna Wilson and Maxine Brown; uncle, Charles Brown, III; great-aunts, Rozetta Lynch, Margo King and Deborah Farrington (Aaron); great-uncles, David, Hiram, Chris and Johnny Lynch; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Willie Herbert Murray
DURHAM — Mr. Willie Herbert Murray, 89, a resident of Durham, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
Mr. Murray was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Gattis Herbert Murray and Mittie Maybelle Simpson Murray. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired after over 30 years from the Durham Fire Department. He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church in Hillsborough and served as Deacon Emeritus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Murray.
He is survived by his son, Thomas, W. “Tommy” Murray and wife, Debi of Surfside Beach, S.C.; one daughter, Brenda K. “Buddy” Ray of Hurdle Mills; brother, Norman Murray; four sisters, Virginia Young, Mayo Morris and Janet Shambley, all of Durham, and Earline Young of Apex; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Daniel L. Gregory and Rev. Ralph Harrell. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home.

John Earl Roseboro
DURHAM — On Tuesday, May 27, 2014, Mr. John Earl Roseboro, age 74, son of the late John Earl Roseboro, Sr. and Sarah Roseboro, passed at Duke Regional Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred I. Roseboro; three children, Gregory L. Roseboro, Sr. Esq. (Daphne), John E. Roseboro, III (Leslie), Zaneta Roseboro Ponton (Brian); seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Penn. Services will take place on Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, 531 South Roxboro Street, Durham, at 1:00pm. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Edith Christine Forlines Stocks
DURHAM — Edith Christine “Christine” Forlines Stocks, 95, of Durham, NC, passed away on May 28, 2014.
Family members are asked to gather at 11:30 am on Saturday, May 31, 2014, in the fellowship hall at Winterville Free Will Baptist Church, 489 Cooper Street, Winterville, NC. The family will receive visitors at the church at 1 pm. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm at the church followed by a burial at Winterville Cemetery.
Born on July 9, 1918, in Pitt County, NC, Christine was the daughter of John Leroy and Leta Manning Forlines. She graduated from Winterville High School in 1936. Christine had a long career with Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company in Durham, spanning four decades from 1944 until she retired in 1983.
A faithful member of Watts Street Baptist Church since 1947, Christine worked in the nursery for many years and particularly found joy playing with the babies. She made helping others a priority throughout her life. She was a co-founder and program coordinator for the Duke Host Home Program, a volunteer group that hosted families in their homes while their loved ones received medical treatment at Duke. She was one of the first Meals On Wheels volunteers in Durham. She delivered meals until she was 93 years old, often serving those much younger than herself.
Christine will be remembered for being a true lady in lovely dresses with high-heeled shoes. She enjoyed entertaining and welcomed guests with the utmost Southern hospitality.
She was preceded in death by husband, Leon “Tink” Stocks, brother, Jack S. Forlines, and two sisters, Elsie F. Cole and Mattie Frances F. Langley.
She is survived by her son, Carl Leon Stocks; brother, Rev. F. Leroy Forlines and wife, Fay of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law, Lottie S. Forlines of Clayton, NC; and many nieces, and nephews.
The family expresses gratitude to the loving and dedicated caregivers from Visiting Angels.

Era Laws Carr
HILLSBOROUGH — Mrs. Era Laws Carr, 95, died Thursday, May 29, 2014. She was born in Orange County and attended the Aycock Schools. She was the daughter of the late Birdie Blalock and Hubert Garland Laws. She worked at Hillsborough Florist and was a homemaker for many years. She was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one sister, Elma Laws Hawkins, Hurdle Mills; one brother, John Wesley Laws, California; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, John Claiborne Carr; two sisters, Evelyn Laws Parker and Ellen Frances Laws Wilkins.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM Saturday, May 31, in Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Hillsborough Town Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 PM Saturday prior to the service.
