DURHAM
Annie Elizabeth Seagroves Blaylock
DURHAM — Annie Elizabeth Seagroves Blaylock, 89, died on Friday, November 29, 2013. She was the daughter of the late James Seagroves and Annie Belle Miles Seagroves. She was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Christopher (Cecil) Blaylock.
She is survived by her son Tommy Blaylock of Hillsborough; daughter Peggy Whitley of Durham; brother Roscoe Seagroves of Chatham County; half-sister Mary Ann Malone of Thomasville, NC; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Barry Chambers will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jason Vaughn, Bill McBroom, Bud Clonch, Paul Whitley, Daniel Walton and Buddy Rich. Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Vollers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 713 Martin St. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.

Norman I. Margolis
DURHAM - Norman Ira Margolis, age 64, died on November 28, 2013 at his home. Norman was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina and was a graduate of Durham High School in 1967. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics from Appalachian State University in 1972 and went on to a successful career as partner of Margolis Insurance Agency.
He was an active member of the Indian Princesses program at the local YMCA. Norman, known as “Big Buck” to the local Cheyenne Tribe, served as the Chief of the Nation during his three daughters' involvement in the program.
He had a lifelong passion for helping others and especially enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for those in need at the Durham Urban Ministries. He was also a member and past president of the local Sertoma Club, which strived to meet the needs of the community through service.
Norman inherited a love of cooking from his mother and received the most enjoyment from spending time with his family over a good meal. An avid sports fan, he loved rooting for his beloved Tar Heels.
Norman was born on July 1, 1949, to the late Jacob Clarence Margolis and Mildred Goodman Margolis. He is survived by his wife, Linda McMillan Margolis, and his three daughters, Jamie Leigh Margolis, Carlie McMillan Margolis, and Jaclyn Claire Margolis. Norman is also survived by his brother, Mark Jeffrey Margolis, and his “buddy,” family schnauzer Henry.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Judea Reform Congregation Cemetery located at 2560 Jones Ferry Road in Chapel Hill. Following the funeral service, the family will receive friends and family at their home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Urban Ministries of Durham, P.O. Box 249, Durham, NC 27702.

Malinda Pickard O’Brient
DURHAM - Mrs. Malinda Pickard O’Brient, age 91, died Wednesday at her home.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery.

Janice Pipkin Pryor
CREEDMOOR — Janice Pipkin Pryor passed away peacefully at the home of her brother Paul on Thursday, November 28. Janice was the daughter of the late Nellie Johnson Pipkin and Jesse James Pipkin. She was also predeceased by her brothers James Pipkin and Benny Pipkin and by her husband, Donald Pridgen.
Janice operated her own business, Janice’s Detailed Home Cleaning.
Janice’s surviving family includes her two children Joey Riley (Kim) and Brandy Rigsbee, four grandchildren, one sister Debbie Medlin (Randy), four brothers, Marvin Pipkin (Mike), William Pipkin (Nita), Norman Pipkin (Sandy), Paul Pipkin (Barbara), and special loved ones Sonny Whitfield, Bruce Meredith and Jenny Semans.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 1 at 3:00 at American Cremation Services, 1204 Person Street, Durham.
The family will receive visitors at American Cremation Services one hour before the service.

Betty Frances Ladd Duncan
HILLSBOROUGH — Mrs. Betty Frances Ladd Duncan, 81, died Wednesday, November 27, at Duke Hospital. She was born and raised in Durham; daughter of the late William A. Ladd and Pansy M. Ladd. Mrs. Duncan was a member of West Durham Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Kay Saunders Basden and grandson Christopher Drake Basden.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Duncan, and daughter Nancy Saunders McNeill and husband Paul of Durham; her grandchildren Kevin McNeill, Tom McNeill, Mike Basden and Melissa Basden Logsdon; two great-grandchildren Chelsea Logsdon and Christa Logsdon; one sister Margaret L. Wilborn and husband Archie of Mebane.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, 12-1-13, at Walker’s Funeral Home of Hillsborough. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to her church or to Animal Protection Society.
