Armetta Stallings Lee
DURHAM — Mrs. Armetta Stallings Lee, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Hock Family Pavilion.
She was a longtime resident of Durham and had a career in nursing, retiring from Duke Medical Center.
She is survived by her son, Edward Lee and wife Marilyn of Durham, NC; two daughters, Carla Adams (Jesse) of Wilson, NC and Stephanie Lee of Durham, NC; three sisters; one brother; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Mt. Level Missionary Baptist Church beginning at 12:00 noon. There will be visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the church.

Bonnie Schaber Shaw
DURHAM — Bonnie Schaber Shaw, beloved MawMaw to her 3 grandchildren, died suddenly Thursday, August 14, at age 61 of a brain aneurysm. She was a talented seamstress at Shaw Upholstery and brought joy to many customers over a 40-year career. She was loved by her family and will be missed more than words can say. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Rosie Schaber, and sister, Cookie Williams.
She is survived by her husband, of nearly 44 years, Rodney Shaw; son, Matt Shaw and wife, Amanda; daughter, April Feickert and husband, Alan; her 3 grandchildren, Campbell and Marlie Shaw and Emery Feickert, whom she will miss greatly; her brothers, Gary, Denny, Jeff, David and Scotty Schaber; and also Great Grandma Beck, who Bonnie helped in many ways. We all loved you so much and know that you can never be replaced.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, 6:00 p.m., at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham with the Rev. Robert Bresch officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 to 5:45 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for everyone to please make donations to a memorial of your choice in Bonnie’s memory.

HILLSBOROUGH — Ms. Julie Byrd, 87, passed away at her home late Thursday evening. Ms. Byrd was born in Dickinson County, Virginia, the daughter of the late, Myrtle Salyers Hutchinson and Abijah Franklin Hutchinson. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Commie Lee Byrd, and a son, Roger Byrd. She was a longtime member of Friendly Hills Baptist Church in Hillsborough.
Julie is survived by two daughters, Edna Hendrickson and husband, Bill, Brenda Rudder and husband, Dale; her son, Larry Byrd and wife, Robin; a daughter-in-law, Kaye Byrd; nine grandchildren, Traci Stambaugh and husband, Rick, Terri McCurdy and husband, Bill, Roger Byrd, Jr. and wife, Gina, Frankie Byrd, Jason Byrd and wife, Erika, Greg Byrd and wife, Liz, Adam Byrd, Tammy Perry and husband, Jeffery, and Buck Hardee and wife, Amanda; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bertie Funk and Frankie Keith.
The funeral service will be at 2pm on Sunday, August 17, at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Tate and Rev. Rich Goodier officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8pm at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.

Charles Jayhue Helpingstine
CHAPEL HILL — Charles Jayhue Helpingstine (Chuck) died Thursday, August 14, 2014 in Chapel Hill. Born in Puerto Rico on August 8, 1961 to Jay (Helpingstine) Elliott and the late Ritchey Wyman Helpingstine, Chuck was owner of Johnny T Shirt in Chapel Hill and Hillsborough.
He is survived by wife Beth Keiger Helpingstine, daughter Tori Helpingstine, son Chase Helpingstine of Raleigh, brother Mike Helpingstine and sister-in-law Fran Helpingstine of Cary, sister Demaree Skibicki and brother-in-law Norbert Skibicki of Naperville, Illinois and father Jay (Helpingstine) Elliott and stepmother Jan Elliott of Naples, Florida. Additional survivors include step-brother Troy Warton and wife Donna, step-sister Tracy King and husband Pat, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving relatives.
Visitation with family will be held at Walker’s Funeral Home of Chapel Hill on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. A memorial service will be planned and held at a later date.
