Renda Page

DURHAM — Mrs. Renda Page, age 100, was born on January 30, 1914 in Wake County. On July 27, 2014, she passed at the Camellia Gardens.
Mrs. Page is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Laura B. Womble and Mrs. Hallie Brown; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
Services will take place on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Solid Rock Full Gospel Church, 2315 Fayetteville Street. Visitation with family and friends will be held at 12:00 p.m.

Ruth Frances Perkins Ward
DURHAM — Mrs. Ruth Frances Perkins Ward, 82, a former resident of Durham, died on Friday, August 1, 2014. Mrs. Ward had been living in Dobson, NC.
She was born in Surry County to the late Charlie T. Perkins and Lillie Bell Hemmings Perkins. She retired after 36 years from Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company.  She was a member of Copeland Baptist Church in Dobson and a former member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Durham. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Horace Ward, Sr.; one brother, John Perkins and four sisters, Marie Hicks, June Moore, Lois Howerton and Mamie Hill.
She is survived by her son, William H. “Chip” Ward (Melody Cameron) of Hillsborough; two daughters, Jennifer Creasman (Darrell) of Gastonia and Betty Alexander (David) of Siler City; brother, Charles Perkins of Dobson and grandson, Chris Haskins (Nikki Chanda) of Charlotte.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate.

Nellie Edwards Boone

BUTNER — Nellie Edwards Boone, 82, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Hock Family Pavilion.
A native of Nash County, the daughter of late George Ernest and Bertie Brantley Edwards, she was a member of Butner First Baptist Church and retired as a medical secretary at ARC (Alcoholic Rehabilation Center) in Butner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, August 4, 2014 at Butner First Baptist Church by Pastor Charles Bryan, Pastor Lenny Rogers, and Harvey Bishop. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.
Surviving are her husband of sixty-five years, Curtis Boone of the home, a daughter, Judy Boone Breedlove(Wayne) , a son, Steve Boone(Jean) ,all of Butner, two sisters, Elizabeth Edwards Smith of Wake Forest , Geraldine “Geri” Edwards Woodall of Louisburg, four grandchildren, Chad Breedlove(Vanessa), Tara Breedlove, Adam Boone, Amy Boone, Heather Strother, Holly Strother, great grandchildren, Sydney Breedlove, Joshua Breedlove, Taylor Boone and Brent Elliott.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church in Butner, P.O. Box 44, Butner, NC 27509.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 4, 2014 from 10:00-11:00AM prior to the funeral at the First Baptist Church in Butner and at other times at the home of her daughter.

George Franklin Neville Sr.

CHAPEL HILL — Mr. George Franklin Neville Sr., age 89, passed on Tuesday, July 29, 2014.
He was born May 29, 1925 in Orange County.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 4, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the funeral at the church. He is survived by three sons, George Neville Jr. of Baltimore, Robert Neville and John Neville, both of Durham; one daughter, Patrica Neville of Durham.

Alene Walser
HILLSBOROUGH — Alene Walser went Home on July thirty-first, 2014. She was born in Hillsborough, North Carolina where she lived for many years and was a loving mother to her four children. As a civilian employee of the Air Force, Alene lived in Florida, South Korea, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she remained a current and long-time resident. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Conway, South Carolina. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by many.
Surviving are one daughter, Carol C. Andros and her husband Steve from Myrtle Beach; two sons, Bruce G. Collins from Myrtle Beach, Fred Collins and his wife Sharon from Durham; one sister, Betty Sue Minnis from Chapel Hill; one brother Odell Walser and his wife Geraldine from Apex; seven grandchildren and nine great gradchildren.  She was predeceased by her parents and one daughter Sandra Collins Nelson.  
Visitation will be on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Walker’s Funeral Home on Hillsborough.  
Funeral services will at 11:00AM on August 5, 2014 at Walker’s Funeral Home of Hillsborough with burial at Hillsborough Town Cemetery.

Charlie E. Rhew

ROXBORO — Charlie E. Rhew, Sr., 86, of Roxboro passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at his residence. Born in Durham County, Mr. Rhew was the son of the late Joseph Rhew and Lizzie Hunt Rhew. Mr. Rhew was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Whitaker Rhew; and a brother, Joseph Clyde Rhew. He was a retired Durham police officer and formerly was employed at the U.S. Postal Service and Brown Brothers Plumbing. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Rhew was a member and Deacon at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church and a member of the Bahama Ruritan Club.
Mr. Rhew is survived by a son, Chuck Rhew and Angie Powell; and a grandchild, Amanda Rhew.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, Durham, with Rev. Jeff McCarthy officiating. Interment will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens, Raleigh. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home, Durham.
