DURHAM - Carolyn Tice Driver, 78, of Durham passed away Tuesday.
Carolyn is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth Gaddy Tice of Durham.

Addie Ross Hester
DURHAM - Mrs. Addie Ross Hester, 75, departed her life on Monday, June 24, 2013.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory two daughters, one son, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four sisters, one brother, one daughter-in-law, one brother-in-law and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with visitation at 12 noon.
Phyllis Minor (nee Hayes)
DURHAM — On June 6th 2013, Phyllis Minor (nee Hayes) passed away in Northern Virginia. Phyllis, the daughter of Russell and Bessie King Hayes, was born and raised in Durham, NC. She was a graduate of Durham High. In 1951, she married James Arnold Minor also of Durham. Phyllis was a long time resident of Annandale, Virginia and retired from the CIA in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Jim;” granddaughter, Jillian; and sister, Emily Blankenship. She is survived by her children, Cathy of Colorado Springs, CO, James Jr. of Stem, NC, and Michael of Annandale, VA. She is also survived by her brother, Eddie Hayes; and sister, Mary Jane Copeland, both of Durham NC, as well as by her grandchildren, Tracie, Corrie, Jason, and Cheryl. She had seven great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Phyllis and Jim will be reunited at a graveside Celebration of Life on August 3rd at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham, NC. Flowers are welcome and accepted, as well donations to breast cancer research in her memory.
Burly Randolph Page Sr.
DURHAM — Mr. Burly Randolph Page Sr., 92, transitioned peacefully from his life into the realm of Eternal rest on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Mr. Page died at his home in Durham, the city of which he was a native and where he spent most of his life. A former Tuskegee pilot and the first Black aviator in Durham county, Mr. Page, ascended on his final solo flight following a lengthy illness due to cancer. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 1007 S. Roxboro St. in Durham. The family will receive extended family and friends at the church for one hour prior to the beginning of the service.
Mr. Page is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita Campbell. There were four children born of their holy union, Sandra Jean (Dr. Leroy Vickers) of Cincinnati, OH, Daphne Diane of Wilmington, DE, Burly Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC, and Dr. Carlos Jan Page of Baltimore, MD; and one granddaughter, Lee Melanie Vickers, who lives in Irving, TX.
Dessie Boyd Smith
HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Dessie Boyd Smith, 86, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Treyburn Nursing Center. She was born in Spray, NC, the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Boyd and Fannie Minnis Boyd. She is also predeceased by her husband, Homer Smith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Joan Carol Lane of Asheville; son, David Michael Smith of Hillsborough; brother, George Boyd of Efland; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Hillsborough Town Cemetery conducted by Pastor Manley Palmer Jr. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Hillsborough.

William M. “Bill” Swain
MORGANTON - William M. “Bill” Swain, 66, of Morganton, NC, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Born in Durham County, NC on December 17, 1946, he was the son of the late William Francis Swain and Betsy Miles Swain. He worked for many years in sales with Vanity Fair Corporation. He had many interests including jazz music and antique toys, trains, and cars. Bill was a wonderful husband and father; his daughter, Meredith, was the joy of his life.
Bill is survived by his wife, Janet Irene Myers Swain of the home; a daughter, Meredith Myers Swain of the home; a son, William M. Swain Jr. of Georgia; a sister, Betsy Swain Dominick and her husband, John, of Durham; and two nieces, Johnna Giordano and her husband, Glenn, of Wake Forest, NC and Betsy Piehler and her husband, Michael, of Morehead City, NC.
The memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Grace Episcopal Church with Father Gary Parker officiating. The family will receive friends in the parish hall following the service.
