MYERS

DURHAM - Willie 'Granny' Myers, 89, went to be with our Savior and her best friend and husband, Lester, on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Hock Family Pavilion. Born in S.C. on January 7, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Ophelia Moore. Papa met her and referred to her as a 'good looking' woman. Granny and Papa were married and had three boys early in their marriage. Her father had politely spoiled her all of her life, so Papa kept that tradition going for another wonderful 57 years. We continued in the ways we had learned for another 14 1/2 years. We loved to hear her laugh. Her presence was our security. She touched so many lives, far too many to name. All that knew her called her 'Granny'. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and best friend. Our family shares in the HOPE that we have not told her goodbye. Until we see her again, her memory will live out in our lives, which she touched so dearly.
Left to cherish Granny's memory are three brave sons, Vance Myers and wife, Pat, of Seattle, Curtis Myers and wife, Sondra, and Tom Myers and wife, Nancy, all of Durham; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. Burial will follow at McMannen United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 North Roxboro St., Durham, NC 27704.
