Police charge man in 2011 homicide
Police made an arrest Friday in a July 2011 homicide that happened on Hardee Street near Naples Place in Durham.
Officers were called to a shooting in the 600 block of Hardee Street at 12:06 p.m. July 5, 2011, and found a man lying in a grassy area in front of an apartment building. The man – Orlando Martinez, 32, of Hardee Street – had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting apparently occurred during an altercation, police said.
Investigators have charged Miguel Antonio Meza-Rodriguez, 22, of Durham with murder.
The warrant was served on Meza-Rodriguez Friday morning at the Wake County Jail, where he is awaiting trial on a 2011 Wake County murder.
Meza-Rodriguez was one of seven people charged in connection with the slaying of 44-year-old Santiago Hernandez-Arrendendo on July 17, 2011, off N.C. 98 near Falls Lake in Wake County. Meza-Rodriguez is facing charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with that case.
