The Durham Association of Educators has endorsed two incumbents and two newcomers in the upcoming primary election for the Durham Public Schools Board of Education.

The group, led by President Andrea Underwood, seemed pleased with the roster of candidates in the running.
“We were impressed by the number of strong candidates this year,” Underwood said. “With the many challenges facing all schools at this time, and especially with Durham looking for a new superintendent, we are pleased to be able to support a slate that is knowledgeable and experienced.”
- For the District 1 seat, currently held by Omega Curtis Parker, the DAE endorsed Parker.
- For the District 2 seat, the group endorsed Sendolo Diaminah to take the place of Frederick Davis, who is not seeking re-election.
- For the District 3 seat, they chose Matt Sears to take over for the departing Nancy Cox.
- For the District 4 seat, the DAE backed Natalie Beyer, who is running unopposed.
Early voting for the May 6 primary starts April 24. In the DPS board races, victory goes to the candidate with the most votes. No runoffs are planned.
