A man charged in the March shooting death of a 21-year-old Durham man was finally in custody Thursday afternoon.
Durham police from the District 2 HEAT Unit arrested Jermaine Alexander Gibbs, 18, on Hicks Street.
He had been at large since March 22, when investigators officially charged him in connection with the shooting death of Jeffery Lamar Dawes in an apartment on Liberty Street.
In other news:
-- Joshua Omar Cannady Sr., 24, of Drew Street in Durham was arrested Thursday and charged with assault on a female, violation of a domestic violence protective order, communicating threats, resisting an officer and making a false report to a police station. He was held without bond in the Durham County Jail.
-- William Cato, 29, of Sima Avenue in Durham was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault on a female and breaking and entering a building with intent to terrorize or injure. He was held in the Durham County Jail under $2,500 bond.
-- Marcus Gerome Glover, 32, of Garrett Road in Durham was arrested Wednesday and charged with manufacturing, selling, possessing or delivering controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released from the Durham County Jail after posting $30,000 bond.
-- Ronald Javonne Roper, 23, of Juniper Street in Durham was arrested Thursday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling or moving vehicle. He was held in the Durham County Jail under $305,000 bond.
