Two more charged in Durham robberies
DURHAM - Police charged two men in connection with robberies that they allegedly committed with Bernic Lee Alston-Currie.
John Antonio Junior Lyons, 32, of Jones Circle in Durham has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of second-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Lyons was charged in connection with a robbery at the BP on University Drive on Jan. 26.
Police also charged Andrew Lamar Coley, 20, of Durante Place in Durham with four counts of armed robbery, two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and four counts of second-degree kidnapping.
Coley was charged in connection with a robbery at the BP and the robbery of Billy’s Mini Mart on Cheek Road.
In addition to the multiple charges of armed robbery, conspiracy and kidnapping charges that Durham police earlier charged Alston-Currie for, he now faces a charge of conspiracy to commit an armed robbery for the robbery of Billy’s Mini Mart. Police alleged that Coley allegedly used Alston-Currie’s gun to rob Billy’s.
Woman charged with child abuse
DURHAM - Police charged Deloris Johnson Yong, 46, of Plumtree Court in Durham with misdemeanor child abuse and assault by strangulation. Investigators alleged that she put a hand around the child’s neck and shoved him against the wall, causing a bruised knot on the left side of his head.
She was released on an unsecured bond.
