Argument leads to teen’s stabbing

DURHAM – A 43-year-old Durham man was arrested Monday and charged in connection with the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in the 2500 block of South Roxboro Street.

Police got the call about 8:50 p.m. that an argument inside an apartment had turned violent. Gregory Donnell Whitted of Todd Street was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

The teen was taken to a hospital for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, said police spokeswoman Kammie Michael.

Whitted was held in the Durham County Jail under $500,000 bond.

  • Nicole Leigh Riley, 33, of Snowcrest Trail in Durham was arrested Monday and charged with conspiracy, conspiracy to obtain property under false pretenses, uttering a forged instrument, forgery of an instrument and identity theft. She was held in the Durham County Jail under $10,000 bond.
  • Jamilla Arrel Verbal, 31, of Fidelity Drive in Durham was arrested Monday and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery and communicating threats. She was held in the Durham County Jail under $251,000 bond.
