Two injured in hit-and-run on Angier Avenue
Two people were injured in a hit-and-run accident on Angier Avenue on Saturday night, according to the Durham Police Department.
David Thomas Waller, 53, and Sylvia Humphrey, 54, both of Durham , were walking along the edge of the road when Waller was struck from behind by a westbound van and thrown against Humphrey, according to the department. The van left the scene.
The accident was reported at 8:57 p.m. in the 3200 block of Angier Avenue near Commonwealth Street.
Waller was hospitalized for treatment of critical injuries and Humphrey was treated for minor injuries.
Waller was in fair condition Sunday evening, according to information from Duke University Hospital, and Humphrey was in good condition.
Durham police investigators believe the vehicle was a late 1990s or early 2000s dark blue Dodge Caravan.
The vehicle should have damage to the right side mirror and window and the front headlight should be missing, according to the department.
