Chapel Hill girl eludes suspicious motorist
CHAPEL HILL – A 12-year-old girl pedaled away from a man who urged her to get into his red car on Tuesday afternoon.
Chapel Hill police reported that the incident happened at about 5 p.m. on Nottingham Avenue. The suspect was a Hispanic male, 28 to 32 years old, with short hair and a beard. The child said he was of medium build and wore a gray or white shirt.
He drove up next to her and asked her to get into the car, police said.
“The child rode her bicycle away from the suspect and the suspect drove away,” said Sgt. Bryan Walker in a Police Department news release.
Anyone with information about the incident should call 911, Walker said.
