Free flu shots offered Saturday
Free flu shots will be offered Saturday at the Durham County Department of Public Health.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the immunization clinic, lobby seven in the Human Services Building, 414 E. Main St. in Durham.
Although recent flu trends in North Carolina suggest that flu cases may have peaked, Durham County public health officials are not gambling on a statistical dip, according to Eric Nickens, information and communications manager for the Durham County Department of Public Health.
“With flu remaining widespread throughout the state, along with isolated vaccine shortages due to demand, providing Saturday hours removes yet another barrier for area residents who may have limited time during the workweek to get vaccinated against the flu,” he said in a news release.
The shots are free for anyone 6 months of age and older.
To save time, registration forms, as well as the Vaccine Information Statement, can be downloaded from the public health’s website at www.dconc.gov and completed in advance.
More information about the flu can be found on the public health’s homepage at www.dconc.gov.
