Theft from Nordstrom charged

DURHAM – A Durham man was arrested for allegedly trying to steal from Nordstrom department store.

David Moss, 59, of Pickett Road in Durham was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit embezzlement and embezzlement after being accused of working with someone to return merchandise for cash to the retailer and for embezzling $1,445.68.

The person Moss is accused of conspiring with is not named in the arrest warrant but the warrant said that the person was not an employee of Nordstrom.

Moss was being held with a $3,500 unsecured bond.

In other crime:

-- Schuyler Jones, 57, of Savi Court in Durham, was arrested and charged with assault on a female, assault on a handicapped person and resisting a public officer.  Jones is accused of urinating on the woman while she slept as well as hitting her in the face, stomach and legs, striking the handicapped man who tried to stop the assault on the woman and resisting the officer who apprehended him. He was being held without a bond.

-- Deelorean Rapheal Moore, 29, of Truman Street in Durham was arrested and charged with breaking and/or entering after gaining entry to Roadside Towing and Recovery on Gilbert Street. Moore was being held without a bond.

-- Christopher Edward Stamps, 26, of Ashe Drive in Burlington was arrested and charged with simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana up to half an ounce, possession of drug paraphernalia and breaking and/or entering. Stamps is accused of having Xanax and Adderall in his possession along with rolling papers and a glass pipe. He is also accused of breaking/entering into a residence at 812 Wendy Way. He was being held with a $4,000 secured bond.

-- Jamar Leonard McLean, 27, of Dale Street in Durham was arrested and charged with assault on a female after allegedly choking and pushing a woman. He was being held with a $1,500 secured bond.

-- Wendell Derek Thorpe, 28, of Linwood Avenue in Durham was arrested and charged with assault on a female after being accused of slapping a woman in the face and holding her in a headlock. He was being held without a bond.

-- James Beverly, 36, of North Miami Boulevard in Durham, was arrested and charged with assault on a female after allegedly punching a woman in the face and pushing her across a room. He was being held without a bond.
