Teen hurt in crash still in critical condition
A teen injured when the car he was driving hit a tree in northern Durham remained in critical condition Friday at Duke University Hospital.
Noah Bacon, 16, of Durham was driving a Kia Soul west on Goodwin Road about 7:23 a.m. Thursday when he lost control of the car in a curve near Bonnie Drive. The car crossed the centerline and went into a yard in the 300 block of Goodwin Road. It started to rotate and the driver’s door hit a tree.
Bacon, a student at Roxboro Community School in Roxboro, was trapped in the car and extricated by Durham firefighters.
Police said Thursday that the accident did not appear to be weather-related, and there was no indication Bacon was speeding. An update on the accident was unavailable from police Friday.
Bacon was on his way to school when the accident happened.
