Four men were in the Durham County Jail Wednesday under $3.5 million bonds after they were charged with robbing a deliveryman at gunpoint behind a popular northern Durham pharmacy.

They’re also charged with trafficking opium or heroin.

The holdup happened Tuesday behind Upchurch Drugs in Riverview Shopping Center at 5108 Roxboro Road.  Police were called to the pharmacy at 9:45 a.m. and were told by a deliveryman that three masked men robbed him at gunpoint and escaped in a vehicle driven by a fourth man.

A witness gave officers a description of the vehicle, and they found it and four suspects an hour later on Elmira Street, eight miles south of the shopping center.

Officers arrested Brandon Louis Dent, 20; Emmanuel Wesley McGilberry, 24; Shawn Hunter, 21; and Damonte Lydell Turner, 21.

They were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon; second-degree kidnapping; felony conspiracy; six counts of possession of controlled substances with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver; and five counts of trafficking opium or heroin.

None have criminal records, according to the N.C. Department of Correction website.
