Three arrests made in flea market shooting

Durham police investigators arrested Rene Moreno shortly after 8 a.m. today in connection with the shootings Sunday afternoon at the Green Flea Market on East Pettigrew Street, the police department announced.

One suspect – 17-year-old Irving Martinez - is not in custody at this time.

Two suspects were arrested Wednesday night. Alexander Cardona is in Durham County Jail under a $7,003,000 bond and Sergio Barboza is in Durham County Jail under a $5 million bond.

Cardona, of West Trinity Avenue, and Barboza, of Sudbury Drive, were arrested in the 4100 block of Sudbury Drive, police reported Wednesday night.  Barboza has been charged with attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Moreno has been charged with attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Cardona and Martinez,  of Maplewood Drive, were also wanted in connection with a Dec. 4 assault and robbery on Hart Street.

In the flea market incident, a 19-year-old man was shot multiple times and a 31-year-old man was shot in the leg. The 19-year-old man was hospitalized.
