Man loses control of car, crashes into day care
Charges are pending in a crash that significantly damaged a Fayetteville Street child-care center.
Police said Naquan Jones, 19, of Durham, was traveling south on Fayetteville at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his car and crashed into Royalty Academy at 2919 Fayetteville St.
The accident happened just after 2 p.m. this afternoon. Luckily, it was closed today for renovations so no children were inside.
Police believe Jones was traveling 85 miles per hour. The speed limit in that area is 35. He was the only person in his car, a 1990 Acura Legend. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a part in the accident. Charges are pending as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
