Durham man arrested in stabbing
DURHAM -- Police arrested a man involved in a stabbing late last week. Xavier Scott, 20, of Durham was arrested this week and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, simple assault and three counts of witness intimidation stemming from the stabbing.
Officers responded to a disturbance at 1110 N. Driver St., about 4:45 p.m. July 3. On the scene, they found a 23-year-old female had been assaulted and a 39-year-old woman suffered a cut to her arm when she tried to intervene in the attack. The 39-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of the laceration to her arm.
Scott is in custody at the Durham County Jail with a $50,000 secured bond.
Police arrest man in June shooting
DURHAM – After two weeks of searching, Durham officers located and arrested Tony Maurice Jones, 25, of Hardee Street, in connection with the June 16 shooting that left a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Jones was arrested July 9 and is in custody at the Durham County Jail under a $600,000 secured bond.
Police asked for community assistance in finding Jones on June 27. He was wanted on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The victim was shot near Angier Avenue and Bingham Street just after 6 p.m. on June 16. The victim was in his car when he was shot.
