DPS seeks input about Milton Road safety
Because of increased pedestrian activity along Milton Road in Northern Durham, the school district is now seeking input from residents about possible safety improvements.
Officials said the area has become a hub of educational activity with the addition of the DPS Hub Farm, an outdoor laboratory.
The area was already home to three schools, including Eno Valley Elementary School, Carrington Middle School, Northern High School and a county library branch.
Some residents have expressed concern about a lack of sidewalks, crosswalks, school zone signs and speed limit signs in the area because students regularly walk among schools, athletic fields, the Hub Farm and library.
The Hub Farm received a YMCA Pioneering Healthier Communities Youth Advocacy mini-grant and will employ three student interns to research safety along the road.
The youth will use the feedback from the survey to advocate for the changes the community identifies as necessary.

Paper copies are also available at the North Regional Library at 221 Milton Road.
