East Durham fire damages house
Fire started by a crock pot damaged a house in East Durham about midnight Monday, but no one was hurt, officials said.
Firefighters were called to a single-story residence at 3310 Oriskony Way and saw smoke, Deputy Chief Chris Iannuzzi of the Durham Fire Department said.
A fire in the kitchen was quickly extinguished. There was fire damage to the kitchen and attic above it, and smoke damage throughout the house.
Two adults were home at the time, and were displaced. The Red Cross was not called.
Twenty-one firefighters responded to the call, including three from Durham County (the former Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department). They were on the scene less than an hour.
