Man faces opium charges

DURHAM – Daemon C. Smith, 37, of Clayton Road was arrested Monday and charged with trafficking opium or heroin and selling and delivering opium or heroin. He was in the Durham County Jail on Tuesday under a $1 million bond.

In other crime:

  • Christopher Isaiah Bowen, 17, of South Hoover Road was arrested Sunday and charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods. He was in the Durham County Jail on Tuesday under a $7,500 bond.
  • Christopher Matthews Lane, 18, of South Mineral Springs Road was arrested Monday and charged with possession of stolen property, misdemeanor larceny, larceny after breaking and entering and breaking and entering. He was in the Durham County Jail on Tuesday under a $25,000 bond.
  • Marcel Antonio Williams, 24, of Danube Lane was arrested Saturday and charged with assault on a handicapped person and common law robbery. He was released the same day from the Durham County Jail on a $7,000 bond.
  • Evette Louise Bradshaw, 53, of Gary Street was arrested Saturday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. She was released the same day from the Durham County Jail on a $1,500 bond.
  • A woman said a yellow gold and diamond necklace worth $5,800 was stolen from her house in the 2700 block of Pickett Road. The theft was reported Friday.
