Passengers in I-85 rollover accident in hospital
Two of five people who were in a car when it ran off Interstate 85, hit a ditch and rolled over Sunday afternoon remained at Duke University Hospital Monday.
No one was killed.
The accident happened about 5:35 p.m. on southbound I-85 near Club Boulevard, closing the highway for more than an hour.
The driver, identified as Annette Wayne McGill, 53, of Waterford Creek Lane in Charlotte, lost control of the Toyota she was driving when the tread came off a tire. The car hit a ditch before it returned to the highway and rolled over three times, Trooper Kyle Whitfield of the N.C. Highway Patrol said.
Another adult passenger, Carolyn Ann McGill, 39, of the same Charlotte address, was being treated at Duke Hospital Monday.
Three children were in the car – an 8-year-old boy from Virginia Beach, who was being treated Monday at Duke Hospital; a 10-year-old girl from Virginia Beach; and a 12-year-old girl from Charlotte.
Whitfield said no charges were filed.
