Two drivers killed in head-on collision
Two people died Saturday night in a head-on collision east of Hillsborough.
One victim has been identified as Dixie Shively, 40, of Durham, who was driving one of the cars.
A post-crash fire has made identification of the other victim, the driver of the second vehicle, difficult, said Trooper G.L. Ingram of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
No one other than the driver else was in either vehicle, Ingram said.
The body of the driver of the second vehicle was transported to the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for positive identification, Ingram said.
The wreck occurred about 10:30 p.m. on Old N.C. 10 about two miles east of Hillsborough and three tenths of a mile east of the New Hope Church Road intersection, Ingram said.
