Duke rallies, UNC falters
Almost simultaneously, the Duke and North Carolina women's basketball teams played games that had opposite flows and opposite outcomes.
At Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke trailed Oklahoma State for most of the first half and well into the second, only to pull out a 68-59 win by hitting their eight free throws after a furious second-half rally.
Meanwhile in Newark, Del., the Tar Heels led most of the way before the host Delaware Blue Hens pulled out a 78-69 win to advance to Bridgeport, Conn., for the Sweet 16.
Duke moves on Norfolk, Va., where the Blue Devils will play Sunday against the winner of the Nebraska-Texas A&M game.
Elizabeth Williams posted a game-high 16 points to go with 12 rebounds, while Haley Peters posted 15 points and grabbed 13 boards.
