Woman charged with DWI & hit and run
Police charged a Durham woman with driving while impaired and hit and run in Chapel Hill after she allegedly hit another vehicle on N.C. 54 and then kept on driving.
Police also charged Susan Elizabeth Skelding, 27, of 1725 Trail View Lane, with possession of drug paraphernalia (a marijuana pipe) and driving without a license.
According to police reports, a man driving a 2003 Honda was turning right on a green light from Barbee Road onto 54, when a 2000 BMW traveling on 54 failed to stop in time at the right light and struck the Honda.
Police received a good description of the BMW and its license plate and went to the residence where the car was registered and found Skelding, who admitted that she had just driven from Carrboro to Durham and that she had been drinking, a police report said.
No one was injured in the wreck, and damage to each of the vehicles was estimated to be $1,250.
