Blue Devils, Tar Heels, Wolfpack ready to dance
The NCAA Tournament started in full Thursday with 16 games at four different sites. Now the local teams are ready to get in on the action.
Second seed Duke and No. 8 seeds North Carolina and N.C. State all open tournament play today.
The Blue Devils start off against No. 15 Albany in Philadelphia (12:15 p.m., WRAL). Duke is a heavy favorite, though the Blue Devils were knocked out in its opening game last year as a No. 2 seed.
While the Duke game is wrapping up, the Wolfpack will tip off against No. 9 Temple in Dayton, Ohio (1:40 p.m., TBS). N.C. State returns four starters from the team that made the Sweet 16 last season.
The Tar Heels will close out the local action against No. 9 Villanova in Kansas City (7:20 p.m., TNT). UNC coach Roy Williams is going for his 700th career win and a chance to face his former team (Kansas) in the tournament for a second straight year.
ACC regular-season and tournament champion Miami will also be in action this afternoon. The No. 2-seeded Hurricanes play No. 15 Pacific in Austin, Texas (2:10 p.m., TNT).
