If the ACC Tournament is going to provide the third matchup between a pair of Triangle teams, it will have to be North Carolina vs. N.C. State in Sunday’s championship game.

Dez Wells put up 30 points to lead Maryland past Duke in Friday’s quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum.

N.C. State earned a semifinal showdown today against top-seeded Miami (1 p.m., WRAL) with a 75-56 win over Virginia.

UNC, meanwhile, will face the Terps (3 p.m., WRAL) after running past Florida State 83-62 in Friday’s nightcap.

The win may have been costly, though, as P.J. Hairston suffered a cut to his left hand in the final minutes after putting up a game-high 21 points on 5-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.

Further concern for the Tar Heels is the condition of James Michael McAdoo, who scored 12 points but played only 14 minutes because of back pain.

Today’s winners will square off Sunday for the title (1 p.m., WRAL).

The Blue Devils (27-5) now must wait for their next postseason destination, which will be announced on Selection Sunday.
