Police ID three teens in bottle incident on bus
DURHAM – Durham police investigators took out warrants Friday charging three teens -- Demetrius Walton, 18, of Eva Street, Jaquan Marquise Cobb, 17, of East Main Street, and Christopher Lewis, 18, of Commerce Street – with attempted malicious use of an explosive device to damage property.
The charges stem from an incident Tuesday night in which the suspects left a small bottle explosive device on a Bull City Connector bus.
The suspects got on the bus around 9:30 p.m. in the area of East Main and Dillard streets and got off a few blocks later. They left a plastic drink bottle (approximately 20 ounces) under a seat. The bottle blew up less than a minute later.
A male passenger and the driver were taken to the hospital to be checked out and then released. The bus was not damaged.
