Pedestrian killed by Amtrak train in Durham
An Amtrak train traveling from Raleigh to Charlotte struck and killed a man on a trestle over Neal Road on Sunday.
The man, whose name wasn’t released late Sunday, was on the tracks about 12:20 p.m. when the train hit him, according to J. Swilley, watch commander for the Durham Police Department.
It’s the third pedestrian death linked to the Raleigh-to-Charlotte train in Durham since the beginning of December. The second was listed by the Durham County Sheriff’s Office as a suicide.
