Cars, electronics stolen from Chapel Hill home
CHAPEL HILL – Sometime between Dec. 21 and Jan. 6, a burglar got into a home in the 500 block of Church Street and stole two cars and electronics, according to a Chapel Hill police report.
Thieves made off with a black 2014 Mercedes and a white 2011 Nissan Pathfinder, as well as four televisions and an iPad. Police later recovered the Mercedes.

In other news:
• Jerman Ruiz Torres, 36, of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Chapel Hill was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree rape, assault by strangulation and assault on a female. He was held without bond in the Orange County Jail.
• Someone broke into a home in the 3600 block of University Drive in Durham on Jan. 2 and stole a championship ring from the University of Central Florida, an Xbox 360, a Seiko watch, knife and a Vizio television. Estimated value of the items was $1,913.
• On Jan. 1, someone broke into a home in the 1000 block of Proctor Street in Durham and stole $8,000 cash and $3,000 worth of jewelry.
• On Dec. 31, someone broke into a home in the 1800 block of Williamsburg Road in Durham and stole a bottle of champagne, two rings and an Apple computer worth about $12,000.
• Shaun Decarlo Crosland, 32, of Roxboro Street in Durham was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault with serious bodily injury, felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, larceny from the person and possession of stolen goods. He was held in the Durham County Jail under $26,500 bond.
• Katherine Marie Lee, 32, of Clarendon Street in Durham was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with serious injury and larceny. She was held in the Durham County Jail under $21,000 bond.
• Michael Charles McGhee, 49, of Cleveland Street in Durham was arrested Tuesday and charged with failing to register as a sex offender. He was held in the Durham County Jail under $20,000 bond.
