Deputies identify man shot multiple times, killed
A man apparently died of multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday night in the second homicide this year in the Durham County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction.
With help from the Mexican Consulate in Raleigh, investigators learned the victim was Saul Botello Abrimz, 31.
He was found in a rental home on property at 212 Andrews Chapel Road, off Leesville Road near the Wake County line.
Dep. Paul Sherwin, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said that the killing may have been drug-related.
“There were narcotics and other items normally associated with drug distribution inside the home,” he said.
Deputies responded to the home at 6:19 p.m. after someone called 911 about the shooting.
The Herald-Sun requested the 911 recording from that incident on Thursday. However, James Soukup, emergency communications director for the city/county of Durham, indicated that the sheriff’s office “wants to review the call before its release.”
It had not been released late Thursday.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at 919-560-0880 or the sheriff’s crime tip line at 919-560-7151.
The county jurisdiction’s only other homicide this year to date was the shooting death of an apparent intruder in a home on Stoney Creek Circle in August.
