West Durham house fire displaces 2
Fire heavily damaged a house in West Durham on Sunday and left two occupants displaced, fire officials said. No one was hurt.
City firefighters were called at 12:36 p.m. to the one-story home at 1021 Carolina Ave. and saw flames and smoke coming from the front, said Deputy Chief Chris Iannuzzi of the Durham Fire Department.
The blaze was quickly brought under control, but flames damaged two rooms. There was smoke and heat damage throughout the house, Iannuzzi said.
Two people were at home during the fire. A cause had not been determined Sunday night, he said.
The residents arranged for emergency housing and didn't need Red Cross help.
Twenty-five firefighters responded to the call, and crews were at the scene about 90 minutes.
