Cary murder suspect caught at Durham restaurant
Police arrested a murder suspect from a shooting in Cary at a Chili’s near the Streets at Southpoint on Sunday afternoon.
Kevin Leroy Bodden, 54, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of his brother, Mark Gregory Bodden, 44.
Published reports indicate that the younger brother asked the older about rent money before he was shot several times. The shooting happened Sunday morning in the Bexley at Triangle Park Apartments.
Kammie Michael, spokeswoman for the Durham Police Department, confirmed that Durham officers helped apprehend the suspect at the restaurant.
Captain Don Hamilton, of the Cary Police Department, said in an official statement that “this is an awful tragedy for the Bodden family and we hope everyone will keep them in their thoughts as they work through this terrible ordeal.”
The mother called Cary police at 8:47 a.m. to report that Mark Gregory Bodden had been killed by multiple gunshot wounds from a 9mm handgun.
By the time the police arrived, Kevin Leroy Bodden had fled the scene.
The older brother had been staying in the apartment with his mother and younger brother, who leased the apartment.
This is Cary’s first murder of the year.
