NCCU student designs Durham walk logo
Erika Keith, a senior art-visual communication major at N.C. Central University, recently won the honor to design the Durham CROP Hunger Walk logo for the event’s historic 40th annual walk April 6.
Keith was one of a dozen students in NCCU Professor Connie Floyd’s advertising design class who submitted logo design for consideration.
All submitted designs were reviewed by the Walk Steering Committee, which selected two finalists. A second committee selected Keith’s design.
Keith graduates from NCCU in May and hopes to pursue a career in layout design for a magazine.
The CROP Hunger Walk, which started at the Duke University Divinity School, is the longest-running walk in the state and the third largest among about 1,200 that take place throughout the country.
All proceeds from the walk are used for both local and worldwide hunger relief.
Nearly $1 million, about 25 percent of the money raised, has been distributed by Durham Congregations in Action to agencies serving Durham.
