Police identify men killed in Orange County wreck
Police on Monday identified the two men killed on Sunday after a chase in Orange County.
Officers in Mebane tried to stop a car based on suspicion of an impaired driver near U.S. 70 and Buckhorn Road about 1:23 a.m.
The car fled and officers pursued. Police ultimately found the vehicle wrecked near U.S. 70 and the Interstate 85 Business interchange, with three people inside.
The two who died were identified as Michael Earl Walker, Jr., 20, of Hillsborough – the driver – and Jazzman Vontrazc Jacobs, 28, of Mebane – one of two passengers.
The second passenger, a 17-year-old from Mebane, was taken to Duke University Medical Center in Durham where he was reported to be in stable condition on Monday.
According to state prison records, Jacobs had prior brushes with the law during the past five years that included speeding, reckless driving and speeding to elude arrest, as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
No such records came up for Walker during a search.
