Police make methamphetamine trafficking arrest
DURHAM – Durham police arrested a Charlotte man for trafficking in methamphetamine Saturday in Durham. Benjamin J. Ayuso Calderon, 38, of Grove Side Lane in Charlotte was charged with two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute a Schedule 1 controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Calderon allegedly carried 3.164 kilos of methamphetamine. He was held on $5 million bond.
Miami Boulevard crash results in hit and run charge, injuries
DURHAM – A Durham woman was arrested Saturday on charges related to a car accident Friday on South Miami Boulevard. Whalisa N. Verbal, 28, of Fidelity Drive, was charged with felony hit and run with injury related to a crash on Miami near South Hoover Road. Three people were injured in the crash. Verbal was held on $2,500 bond.
Durham man charged with assault, battery of unborn child
DURHAM – A Durham man was arrested Saturday on several assault charges of multiple victims.
Brian D. Luster, 32, of East Cornwallis Road, was charged with second degree kidnapping, battery of an unborn child, assault with a deadly weapon, interfering with emergency communication, assault on a female and communicating threats related to offenses in late November, according to the warrant. He was also charged with habitual misdemeanor assault, and held without bond on those charges.
Luster also faces charges related to alleged offenses against a different victim on Saturday. He was charged Saturday with assault on a female, communicating threats, injury to personal property and resisting a public officer. For those charges, he faced $3,000 bond.
Woman charged with assault in front of a minor
DURHAM – A Durham woman was charged with assault of another adult in front of a child. Melissa Marshall, 30, of Lyric Street, was arrested Friday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present. She was held without bond.
Man charged with kidnapping, imprisonment
DURHAM – A Durham man faces charges for allegedly breaking into a home, kidnapping and assaulting a woman. Clarence W. Perry, 28, of Anacostia Street, was arrested Friday and charged with second degree kidnapping, false imprisonment, breaking and entering-terror, assault on a female and injury to real property. The alleged offenses occurred Feb. 10 on Massey Avenue. He was held without bond.
Man charged in apartment break-in, assault
DURHAM – A Durham man was arrested Sunday and charged with assault on a female, breaking and entering and resisting a public officer. Will B. McIntosh, 22, of Aaron Circle, was charged with breaking and entering an apartment on Old Chapel Hill Road. He was held on $1,500 bond.
Man arrested on strangulation charges
DURHAM – A Durham man was arrested Saturday on strangulation charges. Guainer G. Velasquez Fuentes, 30, of Morreene Road, was charged with assault by strangulation, assault on a female and interfering with emergency communication. He was held without bond.
