Police log: Men arrested in separate July incidents
Police made arrests this week in connection with incidents in July.
Demarlo Darin Ferrell, 35, of East Main Street was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping in a July 12 incident on Ardmore Drive.
The victim told officers he was sitting in his car when Ferrell allegedly came up to his car and pointed a gun at the victim. Ferrell demanded money from the man. He then allegedly hit the victim in face and took his wallet, keys and phone. Ferrell is also charged with simple assault, communication threats, assault by pointing a gun and possession of stolen goods. He is in custody at the Durham County Jail under a $280,000 secured bond
Another Durham man, Frederick Jones, 43, of Scout Drive was arrested this week in connection with a July 11 assault.
Officers were called to a disturbance in the 300 block of East Umstead Street. There police were told that two men were arguing with each other. During the confrontation, Jones allegedly threw a brick at the other man, striking him in the head.
The 52-year-old victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries. Jones is in custody at the Durham County Jail with a $40,000 bond. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injuries in connection with this case.
